Twelve & Thirteen Child Safety Training Plan
- All Twelve & Thirteen staff and volunteer facilitators will receive an induction to the Child Safe Standards and the Policies and practices that underpin Twelve & Thirteen’s child abuse prevention plan, including the Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy, Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- All legislative requirements and regulations are made clear, including mandatory reporting responsibilities and procedures, information sharing and record keeping, as part of their induction procedure.
- Staff and volunteer facilitators receive copies of the Twelve & Thirteen Child Safety & Wellbeing Policy and Code of Conduct and are required to sign an agreement to indicate they have understood their obligations and expectations, as part of their onboarding.
- Staff and volunteer facilitators receive training and other appropriate guidance regarding:
- identifying and responding to signs of child abuse and harm;
- supporting someone making a disclosure about harm to a child;
- assessing and managing risks of child abuse and harm;
- empowerment and participation of children;
- record keeping and information sharing;
- child safe reporting and response obligations; and
- cultural safety and inclusive practices.
- Staff training is repeated once every two years.
- Volunteer facilitator training is repeated annually.
- Board members will attend program sessions throughout the year to observe and supervise staff and volunteer facilitators.
